The French ‘oi’ Sound 🇫🇷🗣️
Imagine ‘oi’ like ‘wah’ in English, as in “wa-ter.”
Examples:
“Boire” – Pronounced like “bwar” (means “to drink”).
“Voiture” – Pronounced like “vwah-tyur” (means “car”).
“Noir” – Pronounced like “nwar” (means “black”).
“Moi” – Pronounced like “mwah” (means “me” or “I”).
“Toi” – Pronounced like “twah” (means “you”).
“Poisson” – Pronounced like “pwah-sawn” (means “fish”).Now, let’s practice with a sentence:
“Voilà trois poissons noirs achetés hier soir.”
